This was one of the most challenging races I've ever had to officiate for many reasons.
The course needed to be shortened because of ice in the park area. The trails were clear, but the access was to slippery to walk on. The trails are narrow, so I couldnot start at the trail head.
So, after a run around the roadway (less than half a mile) everyone received a place. We lined up in that order at the trail head and started one runner after the other at one second intervals.
Times are not important as we really have nothing to compare to and the condisions were such that you wouldn't want to know your time anyway. At least I hope not, because my Seiko Timer didn't like the cold and would not print. I've tried to get the times from it's memory, but that attempt failed. So the times are lost anyway unless I can figure out what I'm doing wrong with the memory recall.
That said, everyones places are recorded here.
Thanks Tricia for picking up the hot chocolate and all the help at registration. Your a trouper to come out on a cold day and help out. We all owe you big time, especially myself.
And thanks to the woman who helped at the finish. I'll remember your name when my brain thaws out.
Thanks to Gil Cardello for his help at the finish.
And thank you everyone for running and putting up with my antics. I hope it was all wothwhile to you and you all had a good time.
Maybe I'll see you April 14th in East Hampton Spring Warm Up 4k!
