The East End Road & Trail Runners Club was founded Feb. 2, 1994. There were only a handful of races on the east end at the time and no organized way of finding out about races. The clubs purpose is to inform runners, organize new events, and support existing events. Club Founder, Bob Beattie has been timing foot races since 1994. In 1997 Bob Beattie and Charlie Pecora combined their knowledge and expertise in the needs of computerized timing and scoring. Hence, Fit Results.
To date we have timed over 300 races and have processed 60,000 competitors. We started small and have grown to meet the demands. Our software and hardware is continually upgraded to give accurate timing and scoring within a minimum amount of time. Our staff of two has grown accordingly. Now depending upon the size of the race we can utilize up to ten people. Our mobile data processing center is completely self-sustaining. Bob and Charlie are both runners so we are on top of all the needs required to make your race a success.

About Bob Beattie
Choosing a Race Location
New! Race Management page at The Running Pages
Any place is a good place to run on Long Island. That said, you should choose a place close to home or where you have the most volunteers. Keep the race close to your organization. Next consider what facilities would be open for your use. Schools, parks, places that would be able to let you use an inside registration area with bathrooms available so you don't have to rent port a potties. Next consider your route. Look for roads with little traffic. The route should be a loop course with mostly right turns. Runners would stay on the right side of the road running with traffic.
Consider your volunteers. It takes a lot of people to put a race together. You'll need someone to take charge of the course and water stops, some one to manage registration, you'll need sponsors.
Once you feel you have all that together, we can talk more about organization and timing.
